I feel like middle-brow Michael Bay was making movies with historical settings just to desperately beg for an Oscar lol
yeah oppenheimer is the closest thing to actual bait for the oscars that exists. oscar-bait is like a genre of movie that sometimes the oscars reward, but this shit was catnip for voters
I also didn't watch Dunkirk, which felt like the same thing. I can tolerate his trash politics in a goofy middle-brow genre movie, but it's just too embarrassing to watch that stuff in a historical drama.
Imagine how embarrassing it'd be if Zack Snyder started doing that shit lol
