Here's a very interesting video about how this anime inspired a DnD monster. There's even an interview with the old-school weeb who created it.
The monster is a large insectoid mech that is piloted by someone who has raised and bonded with it. The name "Spirit Warrior" is also a clear reference to "Aura Battler"
