It is abundantly clear that former President Trump has earned the requisite support of Republican voters to be our nominee for President of the United States,” McConnell, R-Ky., said in a statement Wednesday

"There's no question, none, that President Trump is practically and morally responsible for provoking the events of the day,"

-Mitch McConnell, before voting against Trump's second impeachment.

I mean, this is what any rational person expected from Senate Republicans...

Which is why it's so strange Biden ran the last primary on how Senate Republicans love him so much he can work with them.

He can't, no one can.

And it seems like everyone except Biden has understood that for at least a decade

"It is abundantly clear that former President Trump has earned the requisite support of Republican voters to be our nominee for President of the United States."

That's not an endorsement. That's just an acknowledgement of reality.

Next line in the article :

“It should come as no surprise that as nominee, he will have my support,” said McConnell

(I thought the same thing)

[–] MagicShel@programming.dev 4 points 1 year ago (2 children)

That's still extremely lukewarm. It just says "yep he's the nominee and part of my role is to support the nominee."

"And I will support my party's nominee no matter how many ways he committed treason"

[–] LotrOrc@lemmy.world 7 points 1 year ago

Well 1) the man committed treason so nah he should grow some balls and stand for what's right, but he won't 2) he is literally leaving his position and retiring in October so he could extra grow a pair and go against trump, but he won't. 3) McConnell is one of the most evil men in US political history

Acknowledgment of reality is leagues beyond what 95% of the gop is capable of.

evil begets evil

The GOP was pulled from life support today. The GQP has now officially replaced it.

[–] ThePantser@lemmy.world 15 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Mitch McConnell, seen here getting a hand job from Trump, has endorsed Trump.

Mitch McConnell, seen here getting a hand job from Trump, has endorsed Trump.

I would guess that it is trump who is getting handjobs from mitch rather.

He surely has kompromat on mitch (and 90+% of GOP), and that's how he owns them.

Now that I come to think of it, this must be why so many republicans are focused on passing laws that decriminalise paedophilia. Because once it is decriminalised, the kompromat trump has on them will likely be useless...

And there it is. McConnell has cemented his legacy as nothing more than a party hack.

[–] the_tab_key@lemmy.world 8 points 1 year ago

Hah! He cemented that long long ago.
