Do you feel like high school dramas and edgelord power fantasies just don't provide you with the same entertainment value they did when you were younger? Are you skeeved out by panty shots and lewd angles of girls young enough to be your daughter? Perhaps you're bored by the "will they won't they" of a bunch of kids freaking out over their first kiss. Maybe everything is starting to feel like a slurry of tired old tropes. But if despite all this you still enjoy the drawn medium, even after aging out of its key demographic, welcome!
Let's help each other find some animation/comics that are a bit more age-appropriate (or at least that don't make you go "hey, isn't this just a repackaged version of [series from 20 years ago]?"). Reviews, recommendations, requests, laments, memes all welcome.
Other communities of relevance:
One of my favorite series is isekai no seikishi monogatari ( hopefully remembering the title right) and it'd a fantastic show that stand on its own without fanservice. But it definitely has fanservice( in the op no less! Which is a really good op as well) so I always would feel like I had to justify it when recommending it.
like 99% of animes? yea
i mean it's embarassing to even recommend a majority of animes, because of how absurdly they portray women and how excessive/creepy they are with the fan service. it's hard to even watch when the characters are just completely objectified and the creators go out of their way to overly sexualize them. it's just completely normalized in the anime community and it's disappointing to say the least – it definitely doesn't help the image of people who say they like anime, it's why even a lot of mega weebs won't be caught saying they like anime as a genre. just the concept and extent of waifu culture in anime communities is icky...
as for non-anime, i think shows which aren't like that are a lot more common, like the first animated shows i can think of are things like king of the hill, avatar, boondocks, regular show, south park, etc. they generally aren't as bad with objectifying women (but there are definitely some that do it really badly, don't get me wrong)
Honestly: most series.
Sayonara Zetsubou-sensei comes to mind as a somewhat recent example (which shows my age even more than being in this sub, since the anime is almost old enough to vote at this point). It was very funny and even thought-provoking at times, but as the series went on it leaned further and further into ecchi/moe territory. They even broke the fourth wall and commented on it in the show at one point. What a shame.
I had gotten into One Piece briefly back in college, and had pretty much forgotten about it. I think it was around the Skypeia arc that it became difficult to find episodes, and I just gave up on it.
In the meantime, I graduated, got married, bought a house in the suburbs, and had kids who are now elementary school age.
Then I heard about the live action show and remembered how much I loved that show nearly 20 years ago. I enthusiastically recommended it to my wife, explaining that there had been 1000 episodes for us to watch as a family. I remembered it being fun, wholesome, maybe a little violent at times, but let's watch it!
Oh right, the boobs. I had forgotten about the boobs.

Monogatari will remain my personal favourite series, I wouldn't dare expose anyone to it. Plus it's much more interesting as a show you kinda have to discover on your own.

The basic concept is that apparitions are affecting different characters and the main character investigates and helps them. The affected characters are all females and the main character is usually at the center of it all.
But it's all about the writing being interesting, thought-provoking and entertaining, along with excellent voice acting performances, beautiful and abstract visuals, and of course, the amazing cast of characters. All of this with a healthy dose of comedy, perversion, and fanservice, it's still pretty aggressive but not in the way a more 'ecchi' show would portray it, there's never anything explicit. The characters genuinely care about each other, and it's always a treat to see how they interact with each other.
Honestly it's pretty difficult to explain why I enjoy it as much as I do, and it's for that precise reason why I don't ever bother recommending it, because I'm not about to explain myself when someone questions why I like "the show where the main character brushes his sister's teeth in a lewd manner."
