Welcome to !reddit. This is a community for all news and discussions about Reddit.

The rules for posting and commenting, besides the rules defined here for lemmy.world, are as follows:

Rule 1- No brigading.

**You may not encourage brigading any communities or subreddits in any way. **

YSKs are about self-improvement on how to do things.

Rule 2- No illegal or NSFW or gore content.

**No illegal or NSFW or gore content. **

Rule 3- Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here.

Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here. Breaking this rule will not get you or your post removed, but it will put you at risk, and possibly in danger.

Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.

That's it.

Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.

Posts and comments which, instead of being of an innocuous nature, are specifically intended (based on reports and in the opinion of our crack moderation team) to bait users into ideological wars on charged political topics will be removed and the authors warned - or banned - depending on severity.

Rule 6- Regarding META posts.

Provided it is about the community itself, you may post non-Reddit posts using the [META] tag on your post title.

Rule 7- You can't harass or disturb other members.

If you vocally harass or discriminate against any individual member, you will be removed.

Likewise, if you are a member, sympathiser or a resemblant of a movement that is known to largely hate, mock, discriminate against, and/or want to take lives of a group of people, and you were provably vocal about your hate, then you will be banned on sight.

Rule 8- All comments should try to stay relevant to their parent content.

Rule 9- Reposts from other platforms are not allowed.

Let everyone have their own content.

Rule 10- Majority of bots aren't allowed to participate here. This includes using AI responses and summaries.

MODERATORS

I was just browsing a thread on c/nfl looking for new mods. There were multiple 12+ year Redditors there offering to help.

Got me wondering. There are 14,000 of us in this community. How many of us are ten year plus users who have just had enough?

Edit: I didn't expect this post to be as poignant as it became. There are so many of you... I can't reply to everyone. I'm an 11 year user and have modded something like 150 subs over the years. I'm really sad too, but I'm finding that lemmy has most of the content I'm looking for, just needs more comments.

The API was a big blow, but removing awards on past posts and deleting coin balances is really dumb.

Yep 10+ and I left about a week after RIF went down and deleted my account about a week later. Haven't looked back.

I was on Reddit for over 5 years

[–] ben914@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

14 years for me.

[–] Bishma@discuss.tchncs.de 2 points 2 years ago

14 years and change. Haven't been back since blackout day.

[–] noodlejetski@geddit.social 2 points 2 years ago

almost 11 years and over half a million karma.

[–] KTVX94@wirebase.org 2 points 2 years ago

Should be 10 years soon. I honestly haven't had any issues personally, but spez fell really low with his claims and decisions and I don't like the corporate stink. Better do something before it does affect me personally, and help the Fediverse grow.

10 years here. Feels refreshing !

Yeah, it’s been about that long.

[–] Typeo@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

I be gone. Miss the main content streams I enjoyed for sports but I think the community will build up here.

[–] PeckerBrown@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

11 years here.

[–] Pandantic@kbin.social 2 points 2 years ago

I was at about 12 when I left

[–] WolfRun24@lemm.ee 2 points 2 years ago

My account turns 11 on August 11th... lurking 2-3 years prior. As soon as the news was dropped about API changes I came over here and switched between the two. Stopped using reddit overall once my app wasn't supported. I miss my small communities and the news from my city but I can't continue to support it

11+ years with an account and 15 or so as a lurker checking in

[–] glarf@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

11 or 12 years here

[–] NevermindNoMind@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

Ten plus years. I'd have to log in to my account to check and it's not worth it. Quitting reddit was surprisingly easy.

[–] plumbercraic@lemmy.sdf.org 2 points 2 years ago

Yeah me too. This place is cool. And my instance has neat stuff in the local feed too.

[–] sapetoku@lemmy.ca 2 points 2 years ago

12+ years user, I nuked all my accounts when the 3rd party apps died. I still follow a few subs that have no replacement yet.

Those events right before summer reddit ensure its a smoldering pile of rotting compost.

[–] Junkie@lemmynsfw.com 2 points 2 years ago

11 years last year I checked, quit digg for reddit, quit reddit for lemmy, still lots to learn here. It's good to be here.

[–] RavenFellBlade@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

Yo. And the more time that passes, the less I miss it.

[–] Deftdrummer@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

Don't think quite a decade, but definitely the better half of one.

[–] TheShitAbyss@lemmy.ca 2 points 2 years ago

I was a 10 year lurker. Actually post a bit on here..

[–] DigitalFrank@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

11 year refugee here.

[–] dunsany 2 points 2 years ago

15 Year club... sad to leave. But even sadder to see what has become. Don't plan on deleting my account but I won't renew my premium when it comes back up.

[–] blackbelt352@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

Would have 12 years in August here. There's some fandom-centric communities that I miss from my old reddit sub list, but honestly I'm thoroughly enjoying lemmy. I mostly stuck to the official app and the desktop old reddit before dropping it for lemmy, It's so damn nice not seeing He Gets Us ads or casino ads like every 4-5 posts. I left reddit just about when they announced the API cost changes and was like, welp that's going to kill everything. I got an email about Lemmy SDF because of my Mastodon and basically said hey might as well jump ship now and check this thing out.

I was there since 2010, then I got banned for getting into spats with fascists. Fuck’em all. Reddit sucks. Free speech my ass.

[–] jasnstu@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

My 12th Cake Day was last week, which is how I discovered I had the Reddit app still installed on a test device that was my daily-driver a few years ago

[–] acow@programming.dev 2 points 2 years ago

14 years here. Really optimistic for lemmy given how good the app story has become so fast. Hoping the user base keeps growing so that more niche communities hit a critical mass here.

[–] roastedchickpea@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

12 years here sounding off

[–] Sjotroll@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

Not quite there yet, but 8 years and left with Sync.

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

I just googled it. Reddit was made in 2005. That means I must've started using it in 2007 or 8.

[–] ohlaph@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

I think I had 9, but a year or two of lurking prior.

[–] Hitchie_Rawtin@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

Almost 11 years with this username, a few years before that with another account that was linked to IRL stuff so decided to dedoxify myself.

I'm glad tbh - Reddit's been tailspinning as an experience since 2016 at least, it's just become much more aggressive about hating it's userbase and free labour recently.

[–] sprucenoose@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

Who can say, but I have largely left the site.

[–] vermyndax@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

Yep, I left when it was announced Apollo was shutting down.
