And a conservative Christian group based in British Columbia says the debate is a test case for its efforts to roll back school LGBTQ policies across the country.

"Provinces across the country are paying attention to what's going on in New Brunswick because these decisions will affect the rest of the country," said Tanya Gaw, the founder of Action4Canada, which has been flooding New Brunswick MLAs with emails.

"I believe that this program needs to be eradicated from the school system nationwide," Gaw said in an interview.

Amazing, NB leading the way back into the middle ages! I hope these right-wing nutjobs get the definitive kick to the curb that they need in order to finally disappear into the mists of history.

I definitely did not have "2030 - NB becomes new US state named 'Irvingland'" on my right wing takeover bingo card. But here we are.

More seriously. This needs to be fought wherever it surfaces. What a mess.

We're truly the Florida of Canada, leading the pack nationwide in misinformation, spread of hateful rhetoric, and enactment of harmful policies towards LGBTQ+ people!
