Alt text: "Who knew that the devil had a factory where he made millions of fossils, which his minions distributed throughout the earth, in order to confuse my tiny brain?" -- Lewis Black - Me of Little Faith

Also, if you ever have the opportunity to see Lewis Black perform, you should absolutely take it.

Wait, can the devil snap things into existence like god can?

I liked the Terry Pratchett approach more: it's because wizards fought and the wild magic caused species to appear, evolve and go extinct in the blink of an eye, leaving nothing but confusing bones.

Me of Little Faith

I like that.

I once heard one claim that all fossils were the result of spontaneous actions with no intervention. When I asked if that meant that cells could form spontaneously he said no.

I'm atheistic but I don't think the presence of fossils proves or disproves the existence of God in any way. If a so-called "god" made humans, he/she/it could certainly have made dinosaurs. My believe is, either some god made all of the life forms on earth, or else no god did (I believe the latter). But that doesn't mean I don't believe in something that COULD be called "god," only that whatever it is, is nothing like the god of the bible or anything men would ever want to bow down to and worship. And if this is Wendy's, I'd like a baconator with large fries while I'm babbling about all this.
