There's a guy in my community where this news isn't satire.

We have some bloke who goes to a local printing shop and gets a bunch of custom yard signs by the dozens every other week. If he wasn't such a bigot it would be fun looking at what is the sign of the day lol.

Just a few weeks ago there was a "Girl Scouts are going woke!" sign 😐

Ironically girl scouts are woke. Haven't they always been for the empowerment of girls? Teaching them how to be more confident and self sufficient lul. I'm surprised they haven't been targeted yet by that crowd tbh.

Literally since before the beginning of the GSA. The founder of the BSA Robert Baden-Powell ran a newsletter for the early Boy Scouts and in 1909 he wrote, "If a girl is not allowed to run, or even hurry, to swim, ride a bike, or raise her arms above her head, how can she become a Scout?"

God I don't think it's ever been easier to eat the onion than with his headline. In fact I'm 99% sure this is actually happening somewhere.

How do you feel?

[–] fidodo@lemmy.world 14 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I didn't eat the onion because I read the sub first, yet it still made me think did this get posted to the wrong sub?

"I didn't eat the onion, but it does look yummy"

I actually briefly got mashed by this one πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ

As in i briefly thought the story sounded believable enough to be real, before noticing the publication. There is a satyrical news site in the uk called β€˜the daily mash’, hence the term β€˜mashed’ for being tricked into believing the obviously fake news

Girl Scout Cookies can woke right into my mouth!

If a conservative "think" tank wasted that amount of money and went nowhere, I'd say the money was well spent. That's $40m they cannot spend on other things.

[–] Fizz@lemmy.nz 9 points 2 years ago

I almost didn't notice the community this was from. It really does seem like something they would do.

[–] Plum@lemmy.world 7 points 2 years ago

That's a lot of cookies. Damn.

[–] Bonehead@kbin.social 4 points 2 years ago

Dammit...I nearly ate the onion.

[–] BolexForSoup@kbin.social 2 points 2 years ago

If they ever did this I'd probably riot over tagalongs.

[–] copymyjalopy@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 years ago

I actually had to verify that this was satire.

[–] antidote101@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

In reality I suspect it could be done for less than a million.

See I knew this was fake because the girl scouts is a cookie company that somehow uses child labor. They don't teach those girls anything about knots, knives, fire, guns, boats, or anything like that.

How hard can it be, they have "girl" right there in the name! πŸ™„πŸ˜‚
