Made it to 2nd round πŸ₯³πŸ₯³πŸ₯³πŸ₯³

It freaked me out that they called me 45 mins after my interview. I missed the call so I thought "well, I guess it didn't take long to figure I wasn't the right person", but it was the opposite!!!

Next one is Friday with the COO, CEO and general manager. Here we go!

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 4 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Soo cool. Fingers crossed for next round.

Good thing you did. You don't want hot cross buns

Interview in 15. Building is nice. Fairly easy to get to. Here we go!

I'm not super phased if it's not a great company because I have other options, but it would be nice to get this over and done with.

Enjoy your day everyone ❀️

So on the back of her 3rd place last week (which was also last on account of there only being three people in the race) kidcalhoon1 qualified for district.. Raced today, butterfly again, came dead last by half a lap again, got out of the pool smiling and asked if I could buy her a tshirt. Right on kid, again.

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 4 points 2 years ago

She's awesome. Really. πŸ†πŸ…

Woot woot, got called for an interview for a PTjob that's much more in line with how I want to spend my time! Not the most uplifting role, but it's so PT that I'll have plenty of time/energy to pursue side gigs/temp/other roles. If I negotiate the wage right it will neatly cover my rent and all utilities, health insurance for just 2 days of work. This greatly pleases my brain that hates being tied down and loves variety, but also craves basic stability. Have one job to keep the lights on and a roof over my head, and a mix of other things for the rest of the week for everything else.

I've already got another job I'm gonna apply for which would fill in the other days for a few months.

Gosh I really hope it plays out that I get away with mixing and matching and don't burn out again because I often feel thoroughly depressed thinking about how my working style really doesn't fit in with most roles.

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 5 points 2 years ago

sending so much good luck your way πŸ€πŸ€πŸ€

Nice one! I hope it ends up working out the way you want ⭐

I don't think it went well unfortunately. There were a handful of bright red flags also.

I have another later today so we'll see how it goes πŸ˜”

[–] TinyBreak@aussie.zone 6 points 2 years ago

Good to identify that stuff straight away though, better than finding out once you're in the building.

Went for a walk for the novelty of feeling 30+ degrees at 9:30pm. Feels like this hasn’t happened all summer. Wish I lived near a beach, it’s night swim weather.

Just went outside to get the bins and there's a cool breeze?

Was definitely expecting much worse. I know it's still early but the current 30 does not feel like 30.

[–] Baku@aussie.zone 4 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Yeah today was a scam. Meant to hit 38/39, or so everything keeps telling me. Then this morning they said it'd top out at 35, and where I am it only hit 30 an hour ago and is now getting colder

[–] Taleya@aussie.zone 4 points 2 years ago (1 children)

welcome to climate change. Our modelling is fucked, it's all a best guess

[–] StudChud@aussie.zone 4 points 2 years ago

Precisely! Thank you! Everytime someone in my family ponders why the weather is the way it is I'm just like "it's fkn climate change", how many time do I have to reiterate blah!

1 movie down. Am exactly half way through my snacks. This is a huge success.

[–] bull@aussie.zone 7 points 2 years ago (3 children)

Tonight is the Dune 1 & 2 double feature. I see a nap for lunch and multiple afternoon coffees in my future.

I'm also taking my own popcorn. I just need to find an appropriate receptacle for it. I'm not paying $15 or whatever for Hoyts' stale popcorn again.. and also, I have Flavorcol at home now!

I had considered the same, however, didn’t want to sit for 3 additional hours for a movie I had seen twice already.

I want to be fresh for the new release if that makes sense.

Interview was fine, but the baaaad af reviews on Glassdoor put me way off.

Also, pseudo-admin, it would be mainly call centre shit. No thanks.

Playing Tyrian 2000 instead, and looking at work more aligned with the area of study I'll be going into.

Have just been enjoying my early morning cup of tea in the backyard. The last of the bats are flying overhead, the crisp cool air and scents of the early morning are lovely. Today will be not so fun weatherwise I think.

[–] RustyRaven@aussie.zone 4 points 2 years ago

I just took Mr Woof for a walk and it was 21 degrees when we left and already up to 24 by the time we got back. I don't think second walkies is happening today.

Left the main balcony door open, which I rarely do, and there's not much cool air, just a lot of freeway traffic noise. It's half past 12; how is the Eastern/Chandler still this loud? Maybe the air is carrying the sounds better tonight. Anyway, I hate it. I definitely miss that about the lockdowns. I'm over the noise and dust and general built up vibes. If the rental market wasn't so obscene I'd have moved further out by now. I want to go back to the quiet suburbs. A townhouse or villa unit in some sleepy street would be lovely.

[–] Nath@aussie.zone 6 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Looking for someone at work to peer-review my code/build. I threw in the old "Please Consider" ad as a bit of fun.

Turns out that nobody under 40 remembers that entire range of Please Consider ads. Not even the sumo wrestlers in the truck. I think that's a bit of a shame. While I'm not huge into advertising in general, those ads were good and I guess you'd say innocent by today's advertising standards.

I'd like to submit a request that we delay today for another time. Perhaps in the middle of winter? That'd be a nice contrast I think.

[–] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 5 points 2 years ago

I prefer to just get things over and done with. βœ”οΈ done. Mark it off my list.

❌Request denied❌

Google is now saying 33 max today. Going to remember this comment when we get a 35+ day in June

Apparently graffitiing tram and bus stops with acid is the new trend

This grey/white shadow-like graffiti is a type of etching that comes in the form of paint and spray cans and is highly acidic. The acid burns through shelter glass and leaves an unpleasant stain on the glass that is matte to touch.

Unfortunately, there has been much of this particular type of graffiti springing up across the network.

Due to the burns caused by the acid in the spray paint and the staining that occurs when trying to remove it, our teams are unable to remove this type of graffiti.

The only solution is to replace the glass of the shelter and due to budget constraints and the number of shelters affected, Yarra Trams is unable to do this.

I've received similar responses from various councils about graffiti as bus stops too. Apparently for bus stops, responsibility for removing graffiti falls on councils, but if it requires replacing the glass it's PTVs responsibility, or at least that's what the City of Melbourne tells me

Anyways, I guess if you want your racist graffiti to not be removed just paint it with acid, or, I guess, burn it with acid.

except...Except don't actually because graffiting racist shit is for cowards, being racist is for cunts, and graffiting is for gronks

[–] calhoon2005@aussie.zone 7 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

Council could also recognise this and apply matte sticker coverings or something though. You know, on account of the racist messaging on public property.

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 4 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Isn't that dangerous for everyone involved?

They're finally tearing down the apparently sinking central pier in Docklands. Zoom on my phone isn't the best but there is a claw digger thing ripping off the walkway at the moment.

In honour of the Hot I have decided today is the day to make ice-cream. The vanilla base has been made and is cooling in the fridge, to be churned with a strawberry swirl this afternoon.

I tried a tropical Tang V i Saw for cheap at nqr, because I thought tropical would be nice. To be fair, the tropical part is nice! But the "Tang" tastes like burnt sticks or something. I can see why it was at nqr

The Void has been for his annual stab & poke. Recovery hugs & treat administered. But not too many, he does need a minor diet.

[–] Eagle@aussie.zone 4 points 2 years ago

Many traumas = many treats.

About to meet 20 or so people in the consulting network that I’ve joined for lunch. Nerves are kicking in. Schmoozing these people is important for getting work from their networks. Fingers crossed they like me!
