Also, who even asked for this?

A Suicide Squad game could have been really neat, exploring aspects and characters of the DC universe that people aren't usually exposed to (much like the comic did)

Instead we get a multi-player shooter which doesn't even work with the strength of the studio and sets up a really pointless, nihilistic slog just to try and get people to play a game endlessly

Which is a damn shame because this is likely gonna result in Rocksteady getting lay-offs

Corpos out of touch with reality

It's a fucking shame too, because Rocksteady has made a really good shooter in the past

Urban Chaos: Riot Response was one of the best FPS games of the ps2/Xbox Era

If Suicide Squad had used some of the stuff from that game and modernized it, we'd probably be talking about how cool the game was

You think a corpo has played that game? I'd bet that they saw a clip of fortnite and told the devs to make the game play like that because it's popular with them kids.

One of the Warner Brothers was like, Destiny makes a ton of money, make a crappier version of it where you kill Superman and Batman, the kids will love it

Then they all escaped the water tower to harass Dr. Scratchensniff and watch Pinky and The Brain try to take over the world

[–] Annoyed_Crabby@monyet.cc 11 points 2 years ago

Missed the opportunity to call it funeral service :/

I think the all-time peak for Asylum and City are skewing low because they GotY editions are technically separate games on steam

[–] jackmarxist@hexbear.net 6 points 2 years ago

The actual numbers are probably higher because

  1. The entire trilogy was given out on Epic Games for free and I'm assuming thousands of people claimed that.

  2. Piracy

While for the GaaS the numbers are closer to reality because most people will buy it on steam plus there is no chance of piracy in this.

Helldivers enters the chat.

I guess what this proves is that you still need to make a good game regardless if it's gaas or not 🤣

[–] jackmarxist@hexbear.net 10 points 2 years ago

I guess but Helldivers is also cheaper than this game which makes more people pick it up. Also there are less chances of Helldivers shutting down in a year than SS.

The game preservationist in me shudders.

[–] ashinadash@hexbear.net 3 points 2 years ago

Console yourself with the knowledge that GaaS games do not deserve to be preserved.

This is such a clownshow I just feel bad

The 24 hour peak numbers though... yeeeeesh

[–] ColeSloth@discuss.tchncs.de 1 points 2 years ago

24 hour peak difference is super weird. All the batman games at current are around half the 24 hour peak. Except suicide squad is nowhere remotely close to half the 24 hour peak. I'm guessing this screenshot was grabbed at a server crash/down for maintenance type of issue. Still though, there'd only be like 300 playing if the trends were on the expected path.
