Mark Ames and a guest from the episode about Serbia pointed out how Sweden has tons of votes where they have the citizens directly vote on questions of policy, but isn't it curious how there was no vote taken on joining NATO? Curious.....
Only two NATO member states had held a referendum on joining NATO: Hungary and Slovenia. The rest did without asking.

Is it possible that your are confusing Sweden with Switzerland? Sweden has held six referendums ever, all non binding, but you are right that this was done undemocratically. I remember in 2022 when the Socdem government was scrambling to join NATO before the election.
