I went to Beijing in 08 and found nothing but amazing restaurants none of which were serving weird stuff. Worst thing we saw in a restaurant was the first night when I tried to order Peking duck and got a fried duck skeleton over peppers. It was good but weird. The other food was absolutely delicious and the only place I've been to in North America that had real Chinese food was in Vancouver. I've heard SF has it too.
