TL;DW: This guy uses so much electricity every day, that it ended up being worth it for him to spend $90,000 on a full coverage roof and battery system. For his situation he is looking at a ~10 yr ROI.

But was it cost affective compared to just normal roof panels I wonder. I suspect it was not.
It would not be. You could scale it down, but it's most likely more cost effective to go with a more affordable alternative.
