MEGATHREAD for fully FOSS lemmy apps and tools without any ads, tracking or any other anti-features

If any app or tool (regardless of the platform they are in) you know of that is fully FOSS and doesn’t have any ads, tracking, or any other anti-features that didn’t make the list, it is a mistake and you can DM me and I will add it. The same goes for apps or tools that are not really FOSS or have anti-features. Even though I have tried my best, some mistakes could’ve been made. If the newer updates of one of the apps or tools listed made it unworthy to be included in the list, the platform it listed on isn’t available for it, or the link is broken, you can DM me and I will remove/fix it.

Eternity is the best for me. It is super configurable, and it is just so snappy with everything. The menus are well organized and everything is the right number of clicks away. It's not the most beautiful, but I keep coming back to it when I try others.

The main thing that it's missing is a set of mod tools, which hopefully are coming soon.

Same here but the project seems abandoned...

[–] THE_MASTERMIND@lemmy.today 13 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

It isn't abandoned the problem is it has only one dev working on it so the development is slow because he can only do it in his free time.

The codeberg has pretty regular commits for a project of this size. Looks like its mostly focused on translations, which seems reasonable given that its core features run so well.

Mlem is fully FOSS!

I’m currently using Voyager. It’s the app with the most frequent updates and fixes. Memmy hasn’t been updated in a while and the other two aren’t on iOS.

[–] THE_MASTERMIND@lemmy.today -5 points 2 years ago

No the list isn't completed you have add to it

[–] gedaliyah@lemmy.world 7 points 2 years ago (1 children)

For moderating and other advanced features, Alexandrite is the best! As a web UI, it is device and platform agnostic, and the developer sheodox is very responsive. It looks great and has a few customizations like adjusting the colors.

FYI it's 'ads' since it's short for 'advertisements', not 'addvertisements'

I've been using Raccoon lately. It's not perfect, but every release has been improving, and I'm liking it a lot.

[–] Krafting@lemmy.world 4 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Don't forget the Photon web interface which is pretty good! https://github.com/Xyphyn/photon

Also, you should add download link and the link to the Git repos for each App, and Also, your post is really badly formatted!

[–] THE_MASTERMIND@lemmy.today 3 points 2 years ago

I know will fix it when i make it a list

[–] eatham@aussie.zone 4 points 2 years ago

You should pin this post to the community.

[–] rbits@lemm.ee 4 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Why is Memmy listed under Android. It's iOS only

[–] THE_MASTERMIND@lemmy.today 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

It is cross platform as in supports both android and ios and it os listed under both. I hope that helps

[–] rbits@lemm.ee 2 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I don't see an Android version anywhere. Can you provide a link?

[–] THE_MASTERMIND@lemmy.today 1 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

It seems to be wrong so i removed it

[–] slazer2au@lemmy.world 4 points 2 years ago (1 children)

You might want to review the list to make sure that all work with 0.19.

I know Liftoff had broken since 0.19.0

[–] THE_MASTERMIND@lemmy.today 5 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I know but as they have not officially declared the end of development and certain instances such as .world still run 18 i am leaving it there until any change happens.

[–] eatham@aussie.zone 1 points 2 years ago

You should put the apps that are dead or don't support the latest Lemmy at the bottom.

[–] THE_MASTERMIND@feddit.ch 3 points 2 years ago

Drop your reccomends here guys and gals

[–] gedaliyah@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)
[–] SatyrSack@lemmy.one 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Could also include a link to the official Lemmy community for each of these projects

[–] THE_MASTERMIND@lemmy.today 1 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

Uh if you wanna help out i'll add it. I personnelly thinks if someone downloads an app they will find the sub themselves

[–] SatyrSack@lemmy.one 1 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)
  • Added community links
  • Added links to alternative download sources
  • Added notes to indicate projects whose last commit/update was last year
  • Added a couple apps that were previously only listed under web into other sections as well
  • Added a bunch of tools, splitting that section into extensions and userscripts
  • reworked the Markdown
  • various miscellaneous typo fixes, etc.

Seems comments are limited to only 10k characters, but the post itself should allow 50k:

[–] THE_MASTERMIND@lemmy.today 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Where i can't see the list . Can you link it to me ?

[–] SatyrSack@lemmy.one 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I edited it in. I had to paste it into some other site that can take >10k characters because Lemmy comments cannot

[–] THE_MASTERMIND@lemmy.today 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Okay can you give a link then?

[–] SatyrSack@lemmy.one 1 points 1 year ago (2 children)
[–] THE_MASTERMIND@lemmy.today 1 points 1 year ago

Bro/sis you rock added and credited.

[–] THE_MASTERMIND@lemmy.today 1 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

Seriously though i appreciate your commitment. But i gotta ask you do trust greasyfork tools right ?

[–] SatyrSack@lemmy.one 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Generally, yeah. I didn't check each of these tools thoroughly, but each one has the code itself available to look through and (at least the ones included in the list) are under an open source license. Do you have a concern?

[–] THE_MASTERMIND@lemmy.today 1 points 1 year ago

Yes i'll go through sometime . Cheers

[–] governorkeagan@lemdro.id 1 points 1 year ago

Would this not work well in a tabular format? Not sure if Lemmy supports full markdown though.

!lemmynade@lemm.ee - is a really nice web app.

I'm using Connect for Lemmy, it's been pretty good

[–] THE_MASTERMIND@lemmy.today 6 points 2 years ago

It is closed isn't it ? If not link source

[–] jeze3D@lemmy.zip 3 points 2 years ago

I'm using Boost which is the best, but it's closed source.
