That's just like, your opinion, man.

[–] Maturin@hexbear.net 3 points 2 years ago

Why is this one of the best lines of all time? I think it almost every day.

Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (Extended Edition), Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (Extended Edition), Lord of the Rings: Return of the King (Extended Edition)

[–] Comp4@hexbear.net 2 points 2 years ago

Its certainly the best trilogy I can think of

[–] SorosFootSoldier@hexbear.net 12 points 2 years ago (1 children)

For me it's They Live, Aliens, and Empire Strikes Back.

I love scifi movies.

[–] delirious_owl@discuss.online 3 points 2 years ago (1 children)

They Live, actually?

I mean the first 20 minutes were great, buy once they get guns it falls flat

[–] OgdenTO@hexbear.net 12 points 2 years ago

The Lighthouse, Synechdoche New York, Super Troopers

[–] Owl@hexbear.net 12 points 2 years ago (1 children)

the best three movies are Casablanca, The Man From Earth, and Princess Mononoke

[–] someone@hexbear.net 4 points 2 years ago

I don't trust anyone who dislikes Casablanca.

I genuinely thought only a boomer could like Blues Brothers

[–] FALGSConaut@hexbear.net 3 points 2 years ago

Shit, I didn't realize I'm a boomer

[–] Lemmy_2019@lemmy.one 2 points 2 years ago

When The Blues Brothers was released, a lot of Gen Xers were teenagers. A lot of Boomers were already in their 30s. It's a knockabout farce for a juvenile audience. Boomer movies probably start about 20 years earlier.

Casablanca, 2001: A Space Odyssey, and The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Would you rather watch Blues Brothers 2000 or a hypothetical 2024 sequel to The Big Lebowski?

[–] dat_math@hexbear.net 6 points 2 years ago

Same lol

The question did feel like the fastest way to start a fight on this topic, but idk

[–] MamaVomit@hexbear.net 9 points 2 years ago (1 children)

My Cousin Vinny, My Cousin Vinny, and My Cousin Vinny

[–] Dolores@hexbear.net 5 points 2 years ago

[–] WashedAnus@hexbear.net 6 points 2 years ago

The three best Depeche Mode songs are Strangelove, Blue Dress, and the Big Muff

[–] EllenKelly@hexbear.net 5 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I dont think any of these pass the Bechdel test, I know for sure big lebowski doesn't, I can't even remember dr strange love having any women in it lol

anyway, I think they're all alright

[–] Philosoraptor@hexbear.net 4 points 2 years ago

There's General Buck Turgidson's secretary/mistress. I think that might be it, though.

[–] HiImThomasPynchon@hexbear.net 5 points 2 years ago

Not one vote for Buckaroo Banzai?

Philistines

[–] naevaTheRat@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 2 years ago

idk they're winners but Rashomon is pretty much the GOAT.

It's beautiful, there's so much to chew on, and in the end the selflessness displayed is all the purer for the flawed person it comes from.

[–] MF_COOM@hexbear.net 4 points 2 years ago

Alien, Magnolia, Z

[–] delirious_owl@discuss.online 4 points 2 years ago

Big Lebowsk

Is that a prequel?

[–] hexaflexagonbear@hexbear.net 3 points 2 years ago
[–] Alaskaball@hexbear.net 3 points 2 years ago

Wrong.

it's willy wonka with Gene wilder, the iron giant, FernGully: The Last Rainforest.

[–] dat_math@hexbear.net 2 points 2 years ago

Stargate Atlantis, Stargate SG1, Wormhole X-treme

[–] Philosoraptor@hexbear.net 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Replace Blue's Brothers with Young Frankenstein and you've maybe got something there.

[–] PapaEmeritusIII@hexbear.net 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

My partner and I had to turn off Young Frankenstein after 20 minutes because we were bored and didn’t like the jokes ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

[–] Philosoraptor@hexbear.net 1 points 2 years ago

It's definitely got it's own vibe, and I can see how it wouldn't land with everyone. Same with Strangelove and Lebowski, actually.
