The AP article, mentions 'southeast Iran' and Kerman, but includes a map of Iran with a marker for the capital, Tehran. They couldn't be bothered to spend 30s and lookup where it actually happened.

It's like posting an article about a school shooting in Arizona and putting up a map of US and only labelling Washington, DC. I get it's not the main point of the article, but JFC, your job is to inform. 🤦🏻‍♂️

All the people saying that Iran is just like us were right!

Depends which "us" you're referring to.

[–] mwguy 5 points 2 years ago

The United States, I'm an American.

I have a good feeling I know which US they are talking about but they're also an Israel sympathizer so who knows really.

Not really pro-Israel. More anti-rape and anti-slavery.

But murdering 10s of thousands most of which are women and children is ok?

[–] mwguy -4 points 2 years ago (1 children)

No, but the fault of civilian deaths in a was is the fault of the aggressors, in this case Hamas.

[–] DragonTypeWyvern@literature.cafe 2 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Sure bro, October 7 is why Israel gets to genocide whoever they want, as much as they want, it's all Hamas's fault!

[–] mwguy -3 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (1 children)

That's ridiculous. They were invaded in Oct 7th it started a war. Hamas can surrender at any time. They're choosing not to. They're saying that the casualties they've suffered are acceptable. They choose when the war ends. They have continued to choose war.

And quite frankly they were poorly prepared for a war. They spent $0 on civilian bomb shelters, $0 on AA/Sam or other air defense, $0 on tanks. They were poorly prepared for the war they started and they shouldn't have started it. What's happening is the expected outcome when a modern army engages with a poorly armed foe.

Your bullshit would be funny if the IDF wasn't executing people in the street.

[–] mwguy -1 points 2 years ago

Oh that was Hamas remember? They were executing people attempting to flee from Gaza City in the North to safe zones in the South?

This is the best summary I could come up with:

TEHRAN, Iran (AP) — A 30-year-old man gunned down 12 of his relatives Saturday in a remote rural area in southeast Iran, the deadliest shooting reported in decades.

Head of the justice department of the province of Kerman, Ebrahim Hamidi, told the semiofficial ISNA news agency the gunman opened fire on his father, brother and other relatives early morning in a village because of family disputes.

The report, which did not identify the assailant, stated he used a Kalashnikov assault rifle.

Local media report on occasional shootings, but this attack has had the highest death toll in Iran, where citizens are only legally allowed hunting rifles, common in rural areas.

In 2016, a 26-year-old man shot 10 relatives in a rural area in the south of Iran.

In recent years, violence has spiked in the country suffering from deteriorating economic conditions coupled with crushing American sanctions that helped spark soaring inflation and increasing unemployment.
