"Mr. mime mr. mime mr. mime,” Mr. Mime said with tears in his eyes. “Mr. mime. Mr. mime mr. mime mr. mime.”

This is so sad

On the plus side, Mr. Mime will be able to spend more time with Ash's mom.

[–] Kolanaki@yiffit.net 59 points 1 year ago (3 children)

I used to be able to name them all back when there was only 150 of the lil fuckers.

[–] asdfasdfasdf@lemmy.world 41 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (5 children)

I miss those simpler times. Just the whisper of the possibility of 151 was so powerful. Nowadays every five minutes they're finding random inanimate objects, drawing faces on them, and adding them to the list.

[–] Kolanaki@yiffit.net 10 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I kinda stopped caring pretty early on when they introduced 26 of 'em that were literally just letters.

[–] Default_Defect@midwest.social 5 points 1 year ago

In fairness they aren't 26 separate pokemon, Unown can just be in one of the 26 shapes.

[–] DragonTypeWyvern@literature.cafe 6 points 1 year ago (1 children)

The ever expanding list of Pokemans is going to be the millennial boomer humor, isn't it?

[–] asdfasdfasdf@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

I mean, one of the legendaries is basically a starter that you ride like a motorcycle. It's too easy to make fun of.

[–] ColeSloth@discuss.tchncs.de 6 points 1 year ago

I feel the same way. There's just too many and there's too much work to swap around pokemon for counters and strengths/weaknesses etc. I liked the old days where you were able to select like six or so pokemon to be your buddies and rock through the entire adventure together.

The key ring and the trash bag were the final straw for me

[–] altima_neo@lemmy.zip 20 points 1 year ago (1 children)

The Pokemon rap helped make it easier though.

[–] Kolanaki@yiffit.net 26 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (2 children)

Where's the current PokeRap with all checks notes 1,025 Pokemon?

[–] Pandantic@midwest.social 8 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

It probably lasts 10 hours.

[–] Schmoo@slrpnk.net 5 points 1 year ago

Brian David Gilbert did 812, albeit with audience participation.

[–] ouRKaoS@lemmy.today 12 points 1 year ago

You're doing Mew dirty...

[–] son_named_bort@lemmy.world 31 points 1 year ago

Dear Game Freak,

There are too many Pokemon. Please eliminate 800. I am not a crackpot.

[–] apotheotic@beehaw.org 30 points 1 year ago (2 children)

You joke, but this is exactly what they did with pokemon sword and shield

[–] GammaGames@beehaw.org 18 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Unfortunately Pokéunions haven’t taken off, this never would’ve happened if the ‘mons had representation.

[–] M500@lemmy.ml 13 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Pokémon is in a weird spot in my eyes.

They have like 1000 Pokémon that I do not care about at all.

But some people feel that way about a different set of 1000.

They have too many Pokémon and I think there are some that we can all agree are just garbage. Looking at you, garbador.

I love the original 151 as it’s what I grew up with, but I honestly think they should consider doing a hard reset and relaunching the series with significant changes to mechanics and wipe the slate.

[–] Icalasari@kbin.social 9 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Garbador has fans. Check Bogleech and the comments on his article for Trubbish and Garbador

[–] Pandantic@midwest.social 4 points 1 year ago

Burmy, the original rubbish Pokémon.

[–] lorty@lemmy.ml 4 points 1 year ago

Every pokemon is someone's favorite. Even the one that's literal garbage.

[–] Toes@ani.social 20 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Just roll back to 2nd gen. Keep a few of the cute ones and you're good.

[–] IndiBrony@lemmy.world 13 points 1 year ago (1 children)

3rd gen. Nobody is doing Mudkip dirty like that!

[–] lea@feddit.de 8 points 1 year ago (1 children)

3rd gen + new eeveelutions. That's it.

just gen 5 /s

[–] flicker@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Rowlett fans in shambles.

It's me. I'm Rowlett fans.

[–] BleatingZombie@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Rowlett's cute. They can stay

[–] Candelestine@lemmy.world 20 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I'm sure with some re-training they'll be able to acquire new skills in emerging markets that'll offer a competitive salary and opportunities for advancement.

[–] dmalteseknight@programming.dev 10 points 1 year ago

Palworld may have some openings

[–] GammaGames@beehaw.org 6 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

mr mime no!

[–] Zoop@beehaw.org 3 points 1 year ago

Aww, poor little things. :(

[–] ItsAFake@lemmus.org 3 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

What's Senior Mimic doing in the Palworld zone!

[–] Pratai@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I always thought the makers of Pokemon was a company called…. Pokemon. Like how Nintendo makes nintendo products. So… TIL!

[–] ThoranTW@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago

I mean, you're fairly close. "The Pokémon Company" publishes most pokémon stuff in Japan (though the mainline games are developed by GameFreak and are distributed worldwide by Nintendo).

[–] AceFuzzLord@lemm.ee 3 points 1 year ago

Well, if they're laying off 300 pokemon, I hope that doesn't hurt our changes of having a Let's Go Jynx and Let's Go Porygon game release in the next decade.
