This is the first time Ive seen them upset at being called sovereign citizens. I wonder what the issue is.

euphemism treadmill. most people have figured out that sovcit and freeman-upon-the-land mean 'angry person detached from reality' so they have to come up with a new label to self-apply

Oh none of them like that term. They prefer state national.

her truck is brand new off the lot. She didn't get it registered

This is a blatant lie. No dealership is going to let you take a vehicle without registering it. They're legally obligated to register the vehicle, and they do all of that for you when you purchase it. That's part of what that document fee you pay goes towards. So I figure the rest of the rant is probably ignorant storytelling too.

That and I was required to show proof of insurance before driving off the lot. Yeah I smell a heaping pile of BS.

Brand new off the lot could easilly mean old as shit, paid in cash from a shady dealer, probably with a salvage title or similar.

[–] Anticorp@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

That would be "used, off the lot", but I guess these people probably aren't masters of accurate communication. Even those shady dealers aren't likely to risk their vehicle sales licenses over something stupid like this which is totally routine for them.

The cops that let them go with a warning just didn't want to deal with the bullshit they were going to wade into interacting with these idiots.

Am I correct in assuming it was a new to her truck, likely purchased in a private sale? Or are dealerships in other states not required to fill out registration paperwork?

[–] Anticorp@lemmy.world 25 points 1 year ago

She said she got it off the lot. I figure the whole thing is a fantasy scenario they invented. You can't take a vehicle from a dealership without it being registered. No dealership is going to risk their vehicle sales license over one deal with a crazy person.

Looks like it!

So what’s the star rating in their lore?

[–] DemBoSain@midwest.social 38 points 1 year ago (2 children)

First star means they ate all their broccoli at suppertime. Second star means they got all their chores done. Third star means they went a week without peeing the bed.

[–] Death_Equity@lemmy.world 12 points 1 year ago

The third one is the hardest one for most.

That second star is forever out of reach.

I never "finish" my chores, I just get to a good stopping point.

[–] fox2263@lemmy.world 12 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I reckon the one time it worked was because the officer was probably a sovcit too

[–] BonesOfTheMoon@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I did hear tell of a sovcit pilot once.

[–] uranibaba@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

That sounds absurd (but not implausible).
