As the title states, more variety, and lots of new posts are getting basically ignored, even some highish effort ones.

That's what I've discovered as well. The active sort tends to stay the same for me for hours and hours and hours

In Jerboa you can set the default sort mode in settings. I assume you can do the same on the web site.

Can our instance admin set the default to sort by new and not active? 🥺

I dont think so, I've never seen an instance that doesnt sort by active by default

doubt it, but users can set their default sort type from active to new in the settings

Sorting by Hot also works pretty well, good mix of new posts and popular ones
