Your employer

Oh good, my right to not get murdered is now tied to my job! If I quit or get fired, I could get shot in the fucking head and nobody would give a shit! That sounds fucking awesome! spongebob-i-fucking-love

[–] zifnab25@hexbear.net 27 points 2 years ago

If I did not want to get murdered, I would simply contract with the Houthis to shut down the Gulf of Adan until the killing stopped

[–] DragonBallZinn@hexbear.net 17 points 2 years ago

Even from a capitalist standpoint, who would take the risk and try to start a small business in that context? Hell, who would work for a small business if monopolies are rewarded and Peppino's Pizza can't afford to arm its staff with AR-15s?

They're more naive than the strawman of us "We will legalize crime and suddenly no one will ever do anything bad and we'll all sing kumbayah now that no one is ever told what to do!"

This dude's imagined world must have zero unemployment and constant violence because 30% of the population is private cops preventing eachother from doing cop shit. Efficiency

[–] NPa@hexbear.net 21 points 2 years ago

constant violence porky-happy

zero unemployment!? porky-scared-flipped

[–] Zuzak@hexbear.net 16 points 2 years ago

Well, the only barrier of going from unemployed to """private cop""" in Ancapistan is owning a gun and having nothing to lose, so that tracks.

Can't wait to have a toll booth on every street.

[–] Frank@hexbear.net 25 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Legitimately one of the reasons for the consolidation of state authority.

[–] Wheaties@hexbear.net 23 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Yankee libertarians love to imagine their first-principals social experiment, completely oblivious to the fact they're blatantly reenacting parts of early colonial history in suburban New Hampshire.

[–] FlakesBongler@hexbear.net 14 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I drove through that town pretty recently and yes, there are still bears roaming around

[–] Wheaties@hexbear.net 11 points 2 years ago

...oh shit, I just assumed they'd have given up by now and conceded to real organizing. What do they expect will happen when the more aggressive sorts of bears and large predators take notice?

[–] laziestflagellant@hexbear.net 32 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I am 100% convinced that this is a high effort bit dunking on ancaps and imo moving performance art as well

[–] CarmineCatboy2@hexbear.net 15 points 2 years ago

can you be convinced that this is so high iq its indistinguishable from the views of Actual For Profit Sovereign Citizens

[–] Wheaties@hexbear.net 28 points 2 years ago (1 children)

this was made by someone here making fun of yesterday's libertarian robbery image, right? ...right?

[–] HarryLime@hexbear.net 23 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Nope, followup image posted by the same guy

[–] EmmaGoldman@hexbear.net 18 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Ask this chucklehead how this is better than what we have now? This sounds actively more inconvenient and convoluted, so clearly the free market in its search for maximum efficiency would dictate the existence of a government.

[–] VILenin@hexbear.net 11 points 2 years ago

Ancaps always circle back around to creating the not-government you pay not-taxes to

[–] reaper_cushions@hexbear.net 27 points 2 years ago

This is literally just a protection racket.

[–] BodyBySisyphus@hexbear.net 25 points 2 years ago

Still not convinced this isn't intentionally parodic

[–] FALGSConaut@hexbear.net 22 points 2 years ago (3 children)

So when amerikkka balkanizes inshallah which states are going full ancapistan? There are some obvious answers like Texas or Florida, but what are the wildcards? Delaware? Georgia?

[–] Awoo@hexbear.net 34 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

Ancapistan can only ever be a temporary thing. A monopoly on violence will always form and whoever has a monopoly on violence becomes a defacto government. Power grows out of the barrel of a gun.

[–] SkingradGuard@hexbear.net 15 points 2 years ago

Honestly they'll probably be some weird incoherent version of state that is christofascist mixed with libertarian. You'll have laws enforcing their religion but also rent-a-cops on every corner.

[–] axont@hexbear.net 14 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

I've been saying this for a while. Texas would immediately sell its government to the Sinaloas or whatever other cartel wins the auction. The whole libertarian Texas pride thing that the billionaires put on is theater. The exact moment that Texas balkanizes and loses the dollar, everyone with a high enough net worth will instantly leave and then sell the coast to Saudi Arabia, and then everywhere else to cocaine cartels.

[–] SoyViking@hexbear.net 21 points 2 years ago

It is impossible to tell the difference between parodies of libertarianism and actual libertarianism.

[–] CyborgMarx@hexbear.net 15 points 2 years ago

I'm very open-minded, I believe people who want a society like this should be put on an island and allowed to follow their hearts

Literally 1995 Russia

[–] quarrk@hexbear.net 7 points 2 years ago

Tupac was right when he said governments and gangs are more similar than different. Even if you somehow create Ancapistan, it’s going to evolve into a functional state because it is far more effective at achieving the social stability requisite for capitalism

[–] Hestia@hexbear.net 5 points 2 years ago

Don't laugh. When the hamburgler strikes, you'll be BEGGING McDonald's for their protection.

One of the major factors that pulled me away from this crap and pushed me left was just taking a big step back and thinking about what this kind of world would really be like. Sure, everyone’s “rights” were protected and everything is all so very internally consistent… but if life sucks what’s point.
