He gets 6 months, yet a doctor performing an abortion could face 99 years in prison, $100K+ fines, and lose their livelihood as their medical license is revoked.

This is another reason to get out there and vote! The last day to register to vote is Oct 10. As for the last 44 years, we have 2 weeks of early voting, which starts on October 23, 2024 and ends on Nov 3 with the final day to vote on Nov 5! Check your county website for specific hours, some polling stations may be open during the weekend!

Check TX voter registration status and register to vote here: https://teamrv-mvp.sos.texas.gov/MVP/mvp.do

Check polling locations and their hours here once we get closer to Oct 23:

Why, to avoid child support?

Motive isn't given in the article, but I would imagine finances were at least a component of it.

This is the best summary I could come up with:

HOUSTON - A Texas man who drugged his wife's drinks in an attempt to induce an abortion was sentenced to 180 days in jail and 10 years on probation.

Mason Herring, a 39-year-old Houston attorney, pleaded guilty Wednesday to injury to a child and assault of a pregnant person.

Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg's office did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Catherine Herring told authorities her husband in March 2022 began lecturing her on hydration and offering water.

She also gave police videos from hidden cameras she installed at her home where her husband was no longer living.

Mason Herring's attorney, Dan Codgell, called the plea deal and sentence reasonable.
