It'd be a pretty enjoyable sport if it weren't for this shit.

TEMU - Shop like a billionaire... joker-amerikkklap

[–] Red_Sunshine_Over_Florida@hexbear.net 17 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Have you noticed the decrease in Temu ads on YouTube lately? It's like someone flipped a switch or something.

[–] tactical_trans_karen@hexbear.net 37 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I haven't seen an ad on YouTube in years, honestly forgot that that's a thing. 🤷‍♀️ uBlock Origin, YouTube can't seem to crack it.

Gotta research that. I'm such a boomer with computers lately.

Open your plugins menu on firefox, search for ublock origins, click activate or accept or whatever. No setup needed.

Thank you. It's working well.

Together we can kill marketing, if each of us does a little bit each day.

Of course all that being said they are still advertising during the Super Bowl so maybe they were just redirecting their advertising budget.

They certainly aren't making supet bowl add money by selling cheap bullshit for $1.80 they've gotta be scraping every byte of data for resale available.

The media hoopla and spectacle is ironic in a way because they hype it up so much more these days yet the whole thing feels less spectacular than it used to. The halftime shows have been mediocre and pusillanimous lately (seriously what dusty cupboard did they find Usher in?), the pre-game stuff is much ado about nothing, and the ads are all on YouTube weeks in advance and up there forever so they don’t have the temporary nature of the old ads. Plus the game itself is often a wash in terms of actually being a decent game.

seriously what dusty cupboard did they find Usher in?

He's got a residency in Vegas now, I guess.

It shows, so far it seems like he's def in practice.

[–] JoeByeThen@hexbear.net 15 points 2 years ago

Yeah, he's still got the moves.

The halftime show has always been people who were popular 20 years ago to appeal to the core demo of tech illiterate 30 to 50 somethings.

It was The Who in 2010 we've just moved up a generation.

Yes and no. In recent years, relatively speaking, that’s been the case. But Michael Jackson was still on top of the charts when he did the show in ‘93, and Timberlake and Janet Jackson were big, current pop stars the year of the infamous wardrobe malfunction. It wasn’t until after that incident that they started playing it safe with nostalgia acts. And prior to the 90’s, more often than not it was just marching band demonstrations.

Under socialism the super bowl's ad breaks will be replaced by useful PSAs, taking advantage of the large audience to inform the nation about the new year's new laws and social programs.

I hung out with friends and did mutual aid work and barely thought about it, it was a pleasant sunday

I have enjoyed gorging on unhealthy appetizers and coming into the room only for commercial breaks in the past but now I think it would just be the appetizers, if I did go to a party for it ever again.

I'm living pretty happy because all the football chuds nearby are mad because the Patriots aren't playing this year

My Beloved Packers aren't playing either, but I get the moral victory anyway

if they didn't have sports as an outlet they'd just be extra-committed nazis instead
be honest with yourself

Not giving a shit about football has been great. I spent Sunday night streaming trashy reality TV and eating Dominos with my wife. It was the best Super Bowl party I’ve ever been too.
