There is more than size going on. Plants are feminine, poison is the weapon of women, Venus is feminine. Her size reads very pre-historic earth mother goddess if you ask me.
A budding flower is very feminine symbolism, which is the bulb-Venusaur through line and theme. Venus and Ivy are also feminine names.
“Charizard” is a very masculine name in comparison

I once saw some official pokemon youtube video with Venusaur where he's hopping around like a frog and it made him 1000% more adorable to me.
Bulbasaur and Ivysaur are objectively the best regardless though. I love my frog plant baby boy :bulb:

Blastoise was my favorite as a boy, but Venusaur is my favorite as a a man. Competitive Gen 3 OU on pokemon showdown has certainly clarified who is powerful and who is not (Venusaur > Charizard > Blastoise in competitive play)
