The thread title is the best one liner I've ever seen on hexbear @beef_curds@hexbear.net. A+

seconded! i love how it's also how the doomsday clock works because it's been within 20 minutes to midnight literally since it's inception in 1947

I used to look at history and laugh at the idea of child kings, but at least they probably knew what day it was

If it leads to the downfall of america, that's good.

If they take us all to hell with them, that's bad.

[–] Othello@hexbear.net 30 points 2 years ago (2 children)

there is no "downfall of America" that doesn't involve americans suffering more, maybe even getting a small taste of what living in a poor country is like lol. not that this at all dissuades me in cheering for the downfall of America.

That's already been happening to parts of Texas, Florida and other States, has it not. They've already proven that they've no wish as a Nation to help their own communities out of poverty. The downside of all this is that poor areas just get poorer, the middle classes and rich have a buffer to work with.

This. Fascism is colonial methods of control applied to the imperial core, and it works its way from the bottom rungs of society up.

[–] Othello@hexbear.net 5 points 2 years ago

Nah, I would not say it’s comparable.

"us all" was likely referring to the rest of the world lol. I.e. nuclear Holocaust

Okay Pentagon officials, what are you going to do about it?

At most the soft kemalism they pulled at the end of the trump presidency.

While I appreciate the good intentions of the fine folks at r/antifastonetoss, they owe the entire internet an apology for the psychic damage they did to 2020s humor.

I went into a ward to visit someone and asked the nurse why they'd put white paper over the windows of the dementia ward. The nurses said its because otherwise it freaks the patients out (or some of them). I worry that Biden, with access to the nukes and other security issues is at risk of this sort of fear-response over mundane things.

He and Trump are both not suitable to be President

The nuclear button isn't a literal button. There's a bunch of layers between the President and the actual execution of a nuclear strike.

I would consider a more pressing issue that you've got people climbing the ranks that really don't think using a weapon would be so bad. And a gradient that encourages a certain kind of officer, who would sit in the room with a senile President and encourage him to take the most drastic approach.

But that's less a senile old man issue. Worked just as well on young guys like Obama and Clinton as it did old-heads like Trump and Biden.

He and Trump are both not suitable to be President

Given the state of the executive branch and the methods by which Presidents only seem capable of pointing at places on a map and ordering them demolished, I'm not really clear who IS suitable. The best you can hope for is a peacenik President. And that only saves you for four to eight years, before the next guy comes in promising to make up for lost bombings.

Can they dementia themselves into forgetting how much wealth they own? that'd be great

In the first pokemon opening, it's established that they want to be the best like no one ever was. Therefore, they digress with "you teach me and I'll teach you."

I can only conclude that the US Senate watched Digimon instead. Why didn't they train anyone? Why didn't they pass anything onto the next generation? I thought the coolest thing about coaching BJJ was how much it shored up my fundamentals, but then I got to see how cool it was to see people develop. I guess there's Pete Buttchug, but is he even hanging out with these zomboids?
