I lurk on anti-West left-wing subs and isolationist right-wing communities to see what they think of the war in Ukraine and pretty consistently I hear them sarcastically say something along the lines of "I thought Ukraine was winning and destroying the Russian military 5:1, but now they need $100 billion in aid or else they'll conquer all of Europe? Fuck off."

When the narrative is as one-sided as it was for many of us, it does unfortunately lead to tunnel vision regarding the conflict and the actual reality of it. Not to mention vindicating the mistrust these type of people have for the "popular" narrative/news regarding a subject.

"Sure they were right, but only because they were also wrong!"

-Every Lib like 2-10 years after they criticize anyone.

Seymour Hersh thinks this move will result in a mutiny. From a couple weeks ago:

https://seymourhersh.substack.com/p/the-president-vs-the-general

“Of course, Zelensky knew that Zaluzny was dealing with the West,” the official said. “But Zelensky will be a dead man walking with the army, which is in favor of the general. He’s going to have a mutiny on his hands."

Zelensky would be the perfect patsy to take a fall. He'd be fuel for the typical Ukrainian oligarchs to gain their reputation back after Poroshenko messed it up. "see what attempting change gets you?" And he'd be regarded as Zelensky the Jewish traitor by Ukraine's fascist scum.

I'm trying to think of a historical figure he'll be similar to.

They're not even having elections in Ukraine, like what is their plan? Is it just Slava Zelensky forever?

[–] SacredExcrement@hexbear.net 3 points 2 years ago

Zelensky wasn't a Based Chad. We need a proper Ukrainian strongman to come in and replace him. Someone willing to root out all the fifth columnist traitors and protect the future of white children and chop down the tall trees, etc, etc.

New general was head of the Donbas war from 2014 to 2022. Seems to be at least marginally less idealistic, but that's not saying much in the context of Ukr military.

“The Russians aren’t idiots,” he says. “They aren’t weak. Anyone who underestimates [them] is headed for defeat.”
