This year's grid gonna be like 90% exposed Carbon with a few paint dots at this point lol

[–] Wodge@lemmy.world 10 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Give it 2 years and it'll be all exposed carbon except for 3 FIA mandated driver numbers on the sidepods and nose, and a QR code you can scan to get all the sponsor logos on your phone.

Yeah I am genuinely wondering how long before we get completely bare car with just stickers for sponsors and driver numbers.

[–] florge@feddit.uk 2 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I mean that was almost the Mercedes car last year

[–] Sentau@discuss.tchncs.de 1 points 2 years ago

So you are saying we are going to get more 'inclusive' colour schemes from now on.

The fia desperately needs to make a rule regarding percentage of bare carbon allowed

[–] Microw@lemm.ee 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Or, you know, alter the weight requirements

[–] JJROKCZ@lemmy.world 9 points 2 years ago

That won’t necessarily make them paint it though, they’ll just use the added weight elsewhere and leave it bare carbon because why not

The funny this is: in the past, they used to unveil that year's contender. You got to see the real car. But now, they don't want to show what they've been doing, so the event is supposed to be the unveiling of the livery... only that there's not much livery left to see. :P

Really, to unveil last years car, with a few blotches of color and a the names of the sponsor, I don't know why they even bother. You don't get to see the real car until race 1. They don't even bring the whole package to testing.

That's why I don't even bother anymore. There's nothing to see in this events. It's useless (except for the sponsors). Just check the photos the day after in social media, and be mildly disappointed then.

Apparently in this case it's at least really the car that they will bring to testing, according to what they said

[–] Dmian@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

Nice, if that’s the case. But I guess they left out some key components, that will appear at the first race…
