Pro-tip America: this is how you make fun of us Europeans.

You don't just use a lazy stereotype of an entire continent.

You use a wide array of even more offensive stereotypes of specific individual countries.

Also: IRC Club Vandersexx is in Amsterdam but Lucy Lawless sounds more like she's speaking German, meanwhile the road signs in Germany are in Dutch, and the truck driver who says he'll never go to Berlin is a German actor who played a Berlin detective on tv for 30 years. I can't help thinking some of that was deliberate.

Fuck, it took me 20 years to realize the Mi Scusi guy is Fred Armisen.

That song was much more of a banger than it had any right to be. Bonus points for Matt Damon absolutely crushing the role as the singer.

I put "Miami Wice is number 1 new show!" into the Bing AI image generator the other day and got this masterpiece:

Jesus I don't like complimenting AI but the title is genius for a sequel.

Separated at birth. Reunited by justice.

I think it saw that you left a typo and instead of correcting it to Vice, it thought it was meant to be twice.

Kids who were born the year this came out are now old enough to experience this movie first hand.

This isn't where I parked my car. (I must have pause the DVD of that spot to see titties so much when I was a kid, we were rural and only had dial up)

Also Club Vandersexx with Lucy Lawless, Mi scusi and the German trucker.

[–] AngryishHumanoid@lemmy.world 10 points 2 years ago

Let us not forget one of the all time great Matt Damon cameos.

[–] some_guy@lemmy.sdf.org 8 points 2 years ago

Great example of a movie that fit its time and wouldn't land today.

I think I'll watch it for the first time in more than a decade.

[–] Whirling_Ashandarei@lemmy.world 6 points 2 years ago

Just watched this before going to Europe for the first time, couldn't help but "mi scuzi" on Eurostar lol

Is the “teen summer movie about getting laid” genre still a thing?
