is harvard a public institution? i guess i am unfamiliar with what law or policies exist that would force them to admit anyone.. ie.. couldnt harvard the private institution change their rules to suddenly only admit guys names Tom?
do they receive government subsidies requiring adherence to federal guidelines?
If they take federal dollars they are subject to federal oversight. It may not be as extensive as public institutions, but regulations do exist.
No Harvard is private, though as the other commenter noted, they may be getting federal dollars. What this really sounds like is the natural conclusion to the SCOTUS ruling against Affirmative Action. If we cannot have one, why should we allow the other?
