I found a YouTube link in your post. Here are links to the same video on alternative frontends that protect your privacy:

It's so exhausting. Yes the advertising campaign is edgelord, have you met gamers? it's still not as bad as any of the literally hunt each other games, other survival crafters, or the entire genre that is Buddy war adventures.

Yes it's not original. Not everything needs to be, most games share mechanics it's why skills translate. Have you looked at what comes out? It's fine for people to stick stuff together and see if it's fun. It's a toy not a Louvre exhibition.

Yes you can do messed up things in it. I can also set babies on fire in the Sims and force people to drown in pools. Is the Sims about that? no! it's about the mindless accumulation of capital and sacrificing all of what makes life enjoyable in order to change yourself into a more productive drone on the hope that maybe, finally, this next million dollars will make you happy. The rights are owned by a company that gets people addicted to gambling as kids and run the closest thing to a video game sweat shop. Go after the damn Sims or whatever.

It's just a silly little toy. The controversy over something so utterly unremarkable except that it's kinda fun and popular atm is bizarre.
