Didn't they announce this when dead-motherfucker died?

[–] radio_free_asgarthr@hexbear.net 18 points 2 years ago

Yeah Noah announced it then.

Wasn't Mao already dead before he noticed any Khmer Rouge genocide? I mean, the 70/30 rule shauld apply to Deng here now....

Deng did a few things:

  • Reversed birth rate policy towards One Child Policy
  • Sino-Vietnam war (because Khmer Rouge, the regime Vietnam overthrew, was pro-China)
  • Stupider foreign policy alignment with U.S against Soviet Union (Eg. Afghanistan, Iran-Iraq war)

My (dodgy surface level) understanding was that supporting khmer was directly third world theory application by mao (Usa first empire, ussr second empire -> we must be opposed to both of them-> something something cambodia would be our pilot project)

Stupider foreign policy alignment with U.S against Soviet Union

I mean, the US wasn’t gonna just build up the productive forces for China without getting anything in return beyond just cheap exports. Literally a deal with the devil. China taking the US side in everything wasn’t just some accident. It was the part of the cost of doing business with the US.

It’s like, when we talk about AES states taking China’s lead and trying to do Dengism, we forget that no communist country is probably ever getting that deal again.

My point still stands, 70/30...

He was hella old in 75 and then dead in 76.

Sounds interesting. I can't wait to check it out. The season on Korea was eye-opening for me.
