This is the place for discussing the potential collapse of modern civilization and the environment.

Collapse, in this context, refers to the significant loss of an established level or complexity towards a much simpler state. It can occur differently within many areas, orderly or chaotically, and be willing or unwilling. It does not necessarily imply human extinction or a singular, global event. Although, the longer the duration, the more it resembles a ‘decline’ instead of collapse.

Power density per unit of area is a wrong metric, unless you assume it is a proxy for physical infrastructure required to utilize the resource. EROEI does also not include the infrastructure, only assuming energy for extraction, refining etc. is also a proxy for it.

In general the level of sophistication in the discussions of usability of renewable is disappointing. Words like dilute are used, ignoring exergy, the resource extraction part, particularly storage. Unfortunately, no time to deal with this to produce something publishable.
