It's the dunk tank.

This is where you come to post big-brained hot takes by chuds, libs, or even fellow leftists, and tear them to itty-bitty pieces with precision dunkstrikes.

Rule 2: If your source is a reactionary website, please use archive.is instead of linking directly.

Rule 3: No sectarianism.

Rule 4: TERF/SWERFs Not Welcome

Rule 5: No ableism of any kind (that includes stuff like libt*rd)

Rule 6: Do not post fellow hexbears.

dumbest Nobel price winner

It bears repeating that there is no Nobel Prize for economics. It's a fake prize that they added after the fact to add credibility to a fake science.

[–] edge@hexbear.net 43 points 2 years ago (1 children)

The "Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel" is awarded by the same committee as the actual Nobel Prizes though, so it's close.

But yeah, Nobel explicitly said not to have a prize in economics.

[–] EnsignRedshirt@hexbear.net 27 points 2 years ago

The prize is real insofar as they award a prize, but it’s a little like if Netflix paid the Motion Picture Academy to award an Oscar for Best Streaming Service.

What the hell is the vibecession? These ghouls are trying to invent reality for the rest of us.

[–] Dessa@hexbear.net 37 points 2 years ago (1 children)

That's what theyve started to call the plebeian dissatisfaction with the state of our booming economy. We're not struggling, we just have struggling vibes.

[–] sir_this_is_a_wendys@hexbear.net 19 points 2 years ago

Sounds like they'll be struggling to keep from being strangled in the streets soon.

[–] Infamousblt@hexbear.net 32 points 2 years ago

Everyone can afford everything they want if you exclude all of the things they can't afford. I don't know what's so hard for you tankies to understand about that.

[–] sir_this_is_a_wendys@hexbear.net 27 points 2 years ago

Michael Hudson said he met him and he's actually as dumb as he seems.

Krugman: "why don't people understand how rich a few people are?"

[–] ShimmeringKoi@hexbear.net 25 points 2 years ago (1 children)

All the tent neighborhoods downtown that are 5 times bigger than I've ever seen them before are just a vibe

[–] sooper_dooper_roofer@hexbear.net 18 points 2 years ago

Paul Krugman

why isn't he posting this from his fax machine?

[–] BurgerPunk@hexbear.net 25 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

Very interesting Paul, now get in the vibe pit barbara-pit

stonks-up all i see is line go up

[–] anarchrist@lemmy.dbzer0.com 23 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Vibe check?

Nope, not over. Make the corporate leeches pay back what they've siphoned off since 2019 and we'll check again, Paul.

[–] DragonBallZinn@hexbear.net 7 points 2 years ago (1 children)

2019? How about since 1980, and that's just me feeling generous.

[–] anarchrist@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 2 years ago

Really good point. The hostile takeover nonsense really ruined the last chance that liberal market economics had to not be complete dogshit.

[–] DragonBallZinn@hexbear.net 21 points 2 years ago

If it's just a "vibe"cession.

Where are the jobs? WHERE ARE THE JOBS, MOTHERFUCKER!?!?!

Are liberals doing anything to combat the perception of so called nonexistent recession? Because it seems like their tactic is to do nothing to show the voters that they’re wrong other than scolding and mocking them.

[–] invo_rt@hexbear.net 18 points 2 years ago

Bruh, my rent is literally 33% higher, home prices doubled, groceries cost a shit ton, cars are required and cost $50K on average, insurance rates are up across the board, student loans are due again... BUT THE VIBES THOUGH

[–] bitwolf@lemmy.one 11 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (2 children)

Fuck this captcha, it never resolves on Firefox.

Can someone direct link the article?

[–] ImOnADiet@hexbear.net 6 points 2 years ago

There’s a setting that can fix it, look here https://hexbear.net/comment/3994390

[–] micnd90@hexbear.net 6 points 2 years ago

It is because innate https anywhere on Firefox. You can open archive.is with Edge or Safari equivalent, they (archive.is/today) don't load ads. It is better than linking directly to a paywalled NYT

boomers will embrace slang 10 years too late, but only once they figure out how they can turn it into a lame gotcha on the kids
