He was spot on that capitalism breeds wage slavery. And many of us complain endlessly about capitalism’s ills. But for all capitalism’s problems, we haven’t figured out what system could replace it; what system would be more equitable and still foster innovation. And even if we knew the answer, we are in a stage where our owners, the powerful beneficiaries of capitalism, would block such changes. I remember growing up watching videos of Russians standing in lines for scarce bread. The post-Lenin system of economics in russia heralded a society of want and pervasive poverty that left generations in despair. The goods and services available to Russians today are poor quality plagiarisms of what we have in the West. That is not the solution I want.
