Which would be worse? Having everyone assume you were drunk at your post and the ship may of survived had you raised the alarm sooner? Or actually having been drunk and thinking the ship may have been saved if you raised the alarm sooner?
It's all a bit moot. It wasn't Mr. Lee's call to push Captain Smith for more speed through the area knowing there were reports of icebergs. In fact, if he'd been a bit slower and the ship had directly struck the iceberg, it likely would have stayed afloat.
