Dang. This brought back memories. I might have to do a reread of those books. I remember being disappointed with the last few books.

Judging from this comment section, I have clearly missed something

Best I could figure it's referencing Emilia Earhart.

And coconut crabs.

I read somewhere recently that she was not alone in that airplane. She had a man co-pilot. Is this true or not?

[–] Bayz0r@lemmy.world 18 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Yes, she was with Fred Noonan, her navigator.

Great, that's what I thought. So why does nobody ever talk about him? Surely coconut crabs feasted on him too.

The crabs wanted Noona-him

So why was Amelia Earhart famed for being the first woman to fly solo around the world? She was not solo.

[–] cerulean_blue@lemmy.ml 29 points 2 years ago

Because she wasn't. She was the first woman to fly Solo across the Atlantic. The fated flight would have seen her become the first woman to Fly around the world, no mention of being Solo.

Because people have bad memories and aren't good at spotting precise language choices in the first place.

That is mean, and we’ve all thought it.
