The "hacker" there refers to the hacker culture, not necessarily hacking a system. HN was supposed to be sharing stuff that would instigate the curiosity of hackers.
...in practice it's just a bunch of Reddit tech bros LARPing as h4x0rz. And they're extremely overexcited with generative models, so anything AI goes to the front page there.
Maybe 2600 Magazine is more what you are looking for? Assuming you don't already read it.
