Sadly, I disagree.
She won an election when the right was split almost evenly. She then went on to govern more competently, fairly, and ethically than most people expected; and was rewarded by being turfed after a single term, in favour of the most transparently self-serving premier we had ever seen.
Four years later, she lost again. To Danielle Smith.
A smart, hardworking, charismatic, fair leader with a vision and a competent party behind her couldn't beat out an insane neo-con populist who idolizes the worst of American bigots. All because she wore orange.
"But the biggest opposition in Alberta's history!" you say. I respond that it shouldn't have been an opposition, it should have been a runaway victory for the NDP under Notley. Sadly, Notley proved beyond a doubt that centrist views (she's really not much of a leftist) are not welcome in this province; and that we will vote blue no matter who wears it.
