Philip Agee, born on 19th of january in 1935, was an ex-CIA officer who became a prominent critic of CIA policies, detailing his experiences in the text "Inside the Company: CIA Diary". Agee ultimately defected to Cuba, dying there in 2008.

Philip Agee (1935 - 2008) served as a Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) officer for eight years, joining the organization in 1960. He was assigned posts in Montevideo, Mexico City, and Quito, Ecuador.

Agee resigned from the CIA in 1968 following the Tlatelolco massacre in Mexico City, in which the U.S.-supported government engaged in mass shootings and arrests of a crowd of more than ten thousand protesters. The same massacre also played a role in the political radicalization of Subcomandante Marcos of the Zapatistas.

Agee moved to London and published "Inside the Company", a tell-all text that, among other things, detailed his work in spying on diplomats, engaging in illegal activity to force a diplomatic break between Ecuador and Cuba, naming President José Figueres Ferrer of Costa Rica, President Luis Echeverría Álvarez of Mexico, and President Alfonso López Michelsen of Colombia as CIA collaborators, and exposing the identities of dozens of CIA agents.

For the exposure of agents, Agee was expelled from the United Kingdom. Agee was also eventually expelled from the Netherlands, France, West Germany and Italy, and was compelled to live under a series of socialist governments - Grenada under Maurice Bishop, then Nicaragua under the Sandinistas, and finally Cuba under Castro. Agee died in Cuba in January 2008.

"I don't think we have ever had real democracy in this country. Anyone who studies adoption of the constitution will understand quite clearly that; democracy - as we understand that on today; was the last thing the founding fathers had in mind when they wrote the constitution....it was: to establish strong central authority responding the elitist interests in United States.

That's private property. And those men who wrote the constitution were representatives of the elites. They were the lawyers, bankers, merchants, the land owners, slave owners and so forth. And they write the constitution for their own private interest$. That is how government has served ever since. And that is why we have so little democracy in United States."

It would be really nice if straightedge hardcore wasn't either totally devoid of politics outside of not drug or proto-grindset or beat people up or BROTHERHOOD (read in gang vocals). Communist Gorilla Biscuits or Youth of Today (with a different singer, I hate Ray Cappos aaa-wwwaaaaa-wwwwAaaaa stuff). Even the more tough guy beat down shit, pro union beat down from the season 2 of the wire cast would be sick and draw from the same crowd. I wanna do pile ups to working class tough guy hardcore.

constantly misspelling a word, only to immediately spell it right when searching how to spell it.

I was watching a video titled 'Hearts of Iron, Historical Revision, and "Sovietology"' and it didn't really seem like it was a leftist perspective so I was cautious. Then he said "don't worry I'm not about to come out as some tankie famine denialist" and I just closed the video.

It would be interesting to have a leftist perspective on how HOI4 handles the Soviet Union.

The Earth Alliance was founded in 2085 by the countries of Australia, the United Kingdom, Canada, Ireland, The Netherlands, Japan, New Zealand, South Africa, and the United States in the aftermath of World War III - Babylon 5 Canon. If this is the case my perspective has entirely changed and the shadow wars wad a great tragedy to the shadows.

kink talk / dark souls 2 spoilerny years ago I got hit with a glitch in dark souls 2 where the thunder sound effect in the mirror night sound fight was omitted from the regular volume mixer and played at max volume, scaring the absolute fuck out of me, and the experience has never left my head

I also have, on a totally parallel thought track, come to understand the depths of my electricity/estim kink

HOWEVER, only just now have I connected the two phenomena

recently learning about myself that either A) i actually do have a certain gift of gab/charisma despite thinking of myself as socially awkward for most of my life or B) like a shonen protagonist i so aggressively and annoyingly believe in friendship & human connection that i easily annoy people into being my pal & then they grow fond of me

People who have to work outdoors in inclement weather, like road crews and electrical linemen, are unsung heroes. What a miserable, dangerous necessary job to keep society functioning. As the PNW ends a tough week, I see the east coast is about to get another storm. Stay safe and thank you for your service.

I'm home from work, cleaned the kitchen, and now I'm ready to chill.

I was reading some shit on reddit and someone made the point of the percentage of black americans in prison in comparison to the supposed figures of Uyghurs in concentration camps. The numbers look worse for America and it made me think about how these numbers that come up are completely uncontextualized and when the same standards are applied to the US, the US will often look way worse.
