Reading this article It felt like a marlibs because of the names. Maybe I'm getting old but these artist names seem to be getting dumber. How many artist names start with yung or Lil at this point?

what makes names like The Beatles, The Turtles, The Police, REO Speedwagon, Pink Floyd, or Bon Jovi less dumb?

They're not all derivative of each other and they are spelled correctly.

Bon Jovi was actually the dude's name, by the way. (Bongiovi)

"Beatles" is spelled correctly? It's a horribly cheesy "Beetles but it's music... get it?"

Awesome band. The name was always pretty silly

And why is it bad if they're derivatives? Why do they need to be spelled "correctly" if they're naming themselves? Is Bon Jovi the correct spelling of Bongiovi? Or does it really matter?
