Change through trade doesn't work, Switzerland. Could you please learn from Germany's failure with Russia?

You're assuming that the motivation is to "change" China, which it's very much not. It's just to make some money.

For sure. But tbh, I think most Governments know that now. I believe that they only mention it in statements, to look good in the international and domestic political arena.

I thought the idea was decoupling from China, but the Swiss are strengthening ties?

Nazis one war, China the next, what do the Swiss care except money.

Well, who actually does do that? The US a bit, but mostly for their own interest in a few important strategic topics. The rest of the world, including the EU pretty much continues as usual, so why should Switzerland of all countries start antagonising China?

I mean I'm all for not involving our self so much with China, but if this happens it has to come as group effort. If only a few countries start, they just cripple their economy while the other countries profit.

All the west is making headway towards it? Ths EU in particular is picking up steam in regards to its handling of China.

This is the best summary I could come up with:

China and Switzerland signed a joint declaration Monday to bolster an existing free trade agreement and deepen bilateral ties, the Swiss government said.

Efforts to make the deal stronger had stalled over concerns about China's human rights records.

A dialogue between the Swiss and Chinese foreign ministries will resume this year and is set to include human rights.

Besides moving to upgrade the free trade deal, the countries also agreed on simplifying visa procedures for travel, China's state media outlet Xinhua reported.

China agreed to provide visa-free entry for Swiss citizens, the Xinhua report said.

He has pledged to kick up trade and investment last year to generate more excitement around a powerful but a largely lackluster economy.
