For the first time. Damn I slept on this. It's great, front to back 10/10. I've of course heard New Noise, which is excellent, but never listened to the rest for some reason.

Were they communists or anarchists? Either way I now follow The Refused Party Program.

Were they communists or anarchists?

Singer Dennis Lyxzรฉn, once voted the sexiest man in Sweden, is a socialist, presumably the rest of the band is too. If you listen carefully, there are some subtle hints in some of their songs.

I just realized the other day that Worms of the Senses/Faculties of the Skull = brainworms

One of my favorite records of all time, I'm always surprised when I meet people who know music but have never heard it.

I've got a bone to pick with capitalism, and a few to break

They're communists I think. I also think that New Noise isn't just about the hardcore scene, I think it's also about the western left

we lack the motion to move to the new beat

Anyway welcome to the listening party. Been listening to this for 20 years, and recently rediscovered my love for it when realizing how commie like every song is

what frequency will liberation be?

Such a stellar line.

They mention an old Italian anarchist in one of the songs, so I thought they may be anarchists due to that. It was the one where they talk about '68 IIRC

The instrumentation and genre mixing throughout is just so good.

I really liked the lyrics and music for the last song too. A great end for the album.

Catch this in Punk Rock History w/Thomas Pynchon sometime next year probably.

I really gotta get back on that...

Love their hardcore stuff too.

If you want similar, very, very, very explicitly leftist stuff from the US, check out Please Inform The Captain This is a Hijack and it's offshoots, amazing stuff.

Refused's earlieralbum Songs to Fan the Flames of Discontent is good too. IWW reference title.
