HOLY SHIT!!!

I had interviewed for another role before xmas just on the off chance because it was a better role, but they said I wasn't a good fit. The recruiter hounded them for feedback, and it turns out they thought I was overqualified for it and they love me!!! I've got an interview with the managing director on Tuesday!!!

FUCK YES!!!!

I'm freeeeee! Just a bit of sniffles left and the medical centre has given me the ok to leave isolation.

Edit: interesting development.. just showered and put deodorant on and I can't smell anything haha

What an odd sensation. Coconut sunscreen.. nothing. Cologne.. nothing.

Going to find some breakfast to check on taste but toothpaste was barely noticeable soooo

Edit edit: I can kinda taste ketchup but that was about it from my eggs and bacon breakfast. I should just eat the healthy stuff I might not usually eat.

The results of our Numbat Naming Tiebreaker Vote are in, with Nellie being a clear winner.

Our Melbourne daily thread adopted numbat may now be officially referred to as Nellie.

Just went over to Lifou for 45 minutes or so. It's so insanely hot. I'm still not 100% so I honestly had to be really careful over there or I felt like I might've passed out. Walked into the sea up to my knees which was like warm bath water. I wish I was feeling up to swimming. Oh well.. very glad to be back in the shade!

Meanwhile this might be a bit of a hot take or sensitive topic or whatever but there are loads of ladies getting about rocking bikinis with and without G-string bikini bottoms who are on the more voluptuous/plus size and I think the confidence is sexy as hell. I don't know what they're feeling on the inside but they're rocking the outside. Might not be for everyone but attitude and confidence in one's own skin are probably the most attractive traits to me. Get it, ladies.

Friend is proposing a group to beach day tomorrow. Which involves going to a kid and dog friendly beach, being a taxi, leaving early and being surrounded by chaos. I was planning a slow solo beach day with a book and big ocean waves as a way to round out the holidays. Maybe I can say I’m busy in the morning to avoid being a taxi, join them for a bit then they’ll probably leave late afternoon and I can have a fraction of the day I planned.

[–] MeanElevator@aussie.zone 8 points 2 years ago

Your friend's proposal sounds more of a chore than anything

[–] Mittens_meow@aussie.zone 8 points 2 years ago

Sounds like you’re on taxi and child minding duty. No thanks.

Oh boy.. I haven't had to do much in the way of talking today and I just tried to sing a little in my cabin. Seems I've only got about 80% of my voice! I guess karaoke is off the table.. not that I'd go and sing into a mic with COVID anyway. I thought I sounded a bit deep when I spoke to someone earlier.

Here, have a pic of a towel monkey

Last day of 'work' before everyone comes back on Monday.

It'll serve as a reminder for me how much people irritate me.

[–] mysticgreg@aussie.zone 4 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Same for me. Place has been a ghost town with skeleton staff (spooky) since Christmas, on Monday every annoying prick is gonna be back.

When I'm not working I tend to be a night owl so staying up till 4am doing my thing.

It's fun, but when you need to readjust it's a huge pain in the ass...

Just a standard wild Friday night, reviewing my car insurance and downgrading it to third party. 🤣

Any news on when Botbot might be back to help us out? Seagoon has been doing a bang-up job keeping us going but Bot certainly takes the pressure off.

Boss has asked me to come in on Monday. Yaaaay I need the money! Especially after doing all the back to school essentials shopping yesterday. Today we buy uniforms 💸Elder is a temporarily awkward shape, so I have to take him to try them on for size. Those classic grey school tailored type pants look fairly unforgiving and the size guide on the website was hard to interpret. His inseam, waist and hip measurements all suggested different sizes for pants🤦🏻‍♀️

The sore throat is still hanging around, it even worsened right after I ordered the groceries so I didn't get lemon. At least I have some lozenges. Going to take another test today.

Getting frustrated with Crimbo Limbo.

Important news: you can order a stubby holder with a picture of your cat on it (or dog/numbat/fav guitar/child) for only $9.90. Just ordered two.
