Using light to communicate in the year 2024? I wonder who thought this was possible... (https://lemux.minnix.dev/post/8918). :-)

I guess the Cell-phone flashlight is more widespread than IrDA transceiver modules though.

Without a secure housing, this is just a neat little gadget to show off. This isn’t a complete PoC; it just shows we can use a solenoid to move a motor. It offers no real security right now.

As far as neat little gadgets to show off go, this is pretty spiffy and one of the first things I’ve seen in awhile I’m curious about building.
