As a Red Sox fan the last couple of years have been very frustrating watching a big market team that is seemingly unwilling to spend. Right now they're projected (Spotrac) to be about 50 million below the CBT. Add that to the mutiple last place finishes the last 5 years and the unwillingness to re-sign Mookie and Xander, it makes rooting for the Sox pretty frustrating at times.

So I'm wondering about other fan experiences (apart from the fact that basically every owner should try to be competitive). How do you feel about your team's spending? And would it be more frustrating to root for a team that consistently doesn't spend or a team that is constantly 'treading water'?

I can't speak to BASEBALL, but our local BASKETBALL team had a weird problem where they seemed willing to spend money, but they wanted to spend it based on stats that appeared to be 10 years old.

Wanting to play top dollar for players long past their prime, and, in one case, had even retired.

Called into question the competency of the entire org.

You could be a Twins fan like me and be both. Team wins the AL Central at a decent rate, but is always one-and-done in the playoffs because ownership won't put in the talent investment to push the team over the hump. We just won a playoff series for the first time in 20 years last season... And the Pohlads decided to cut payroll for next year. To be fair, it's mainly due to the impending death of Sinclair/Bally Sports and not having that TV deal revenue in this particular case, but it's not an unheard of thing with these owners. They almost willingly contracted the team back in the early 2000s. We need new ownership badly.
