What a privacy and security nightmare for so little gain of convenience. People must be out of their damn minds.

Ton of people already give up any hopes of privacy & security by using biometrics on the phone.

As a side PSA: in the U.S., law enforcement can use your biometrics to get into your phone without a warrant. A PIN is protected.

Well your PSA may be wrong in some places now, The Illinois Supreme Court ruled that compelled passcodes don't violate the 5th Amendment. Source

Swell. At least you could protect your phone if willing to sit in jail on contempt charges vs. instant open with Face ID.

PSA part 2, on the iPhone you can hold down power and volume up for a few seconds to force lock the phone and require a passcode to unlock.

Android wins again... Single push on power button brings up the option. Fuck Apple.

[–] SpaceToast@mander.xyz 1 points 2 years ago

So you have to press the power button and then select the lock option? That seems like more work than just holding down 2 buttons, which can be done discreetly.

No, thanks Amazon Panopticon. It's not that much work to insert my debit card and PIN.

I'm sure the Christians well absolutely love this, lol

Why wouldn't we love it? It sounds awesome.

I was taught never to get anything like this installed in me since it's almost definitely the mark of the beast. Eventually no one will be allowed to buy anything unless they have these high tech devices in their hands

"Also it causes all, both small and great, both rich and poor, both free and slave, to be marked on the right hand or the forehead, so that no one can buy or sell unless he has the mark, that is, the name of the beast or the number of its name." - Revelation 13:16-17

I'm not a Christian anymore, so I don't believe this. Looking back, I actually think I find it a bit silly. But that's what that other guy means
