A report was drawn up against a resident of Veliky Novgorod for “discrediting the army” because of a garland with the inscription “Glory to Ukraine”

The security forces arrived at the house after the denunciation. According to the owner of the apartment, the inscription “Happy New Year” was supposed to be displayed on the garland - the device is controlled via Wi-Fi, so someone else could have installed the inscription. The security forces seized the garland.

It probably wasn't their fault and devices are easily hacked. Someone in support of the good cause changed those lights, but it may not have been the owner of the device. It's a bad idea to keep dumb devices connected to the same wifi that connects to the internet, or at least without a lot of security in place.

Bold to connect something like that to the internet.
