Simple fix, when you move out, don’t leave any of your belongings. You’re doing both of you a favor. You get to keep your prized possessions and they don’t have to deal with your junk (their view) you left behind.

The storage has a lot of space and I told her that I would come pick it up if it got in the way so I thought she would've just asked me..

In retrospective yeah, but not really a "fix" if they can't do it now. More like prevention.
