Breadtube if it didn't suck.

Post videos you genuinely enjoy and want to share, duh. Celebrate the diversity of interests shared by chapochatters by posting a deep dive into Venetian kelp farming, I dunno. Also media criticism, bite-sized versions of left-wing theory, all the stuff you expected. But I am curious about that kelp farming thing now that you mentioned it.

Low effort / spam videos might be removed, especially weeb content.

There is a cytube that you can paste videos into and watch with whoever happens to be around. It's open submission unless there's something important to commandeer it with at the time.

A weekly watch party happens every Saturday (Sunday down under), with video nominations Saturday-Monday, voting Monday-Thursday. See the pin for whatever stage it's currently in.

I thought HBomb was doing good for the world after watching the plagiarism video…

Until I found the DK64 nightmare stream. Went in blind and watched all 58 hours over a few weeks. Holy fucking shit, what an experience. I was shocked and teared up multiple times for various reasons. 10/10 best internet boi

I had been watching him for years at that point and it happened early in my transition, his stream meant a lot to me at the time. I remember piss gang and beaver bother, I was there when those words were written.

Hey, Defunctland made it on there, nice.

That being said, I maintain that I dont think the Hbomb video actually is a very good video essay at all, its just that the content/research itself is good, and the purpose behind it also very good.

I agree, I think HBomb's videos would benefit from being subjected to a hard time limit, say 90 minutes. Most of the plagiarism video is just him showing reciepts, which is important, but he doesn't need nearly as many examples as he gives to prove his point.

Polygon is "the better" of the video game news outlets, but that's not saying much.

Still... This is good.

If it gets some nerds to watch an FD Signifier essay, that would be cool

Brian David Gilbert used to do Unravelled for Polygon and it's the best video game media ever made

I was expecting to have seen all of these but I guess I'm not as YouTube-addled as I thought.

YouTube is for PBS Space Time and videos of dudes in their home workshops.

Huh, didn't know we're doing "Best Video Essays of the Year" lists but guess it's not unexpected.
