I posted about the axing the EV car subsidy about 2 weeks ago so here's a fun update; many car brands have started to just go "eh whatever we'll reduce the price accordingly either in full or at least partially" and that is of course very nice of them to do and also has 0 other implications and is best not to think about both in terms of what this means for the economic model or how these subsidies work out

Given the political climate in germany where not subsidizing cars is not an option I am now an advocate for just transferring tax money directly to car manufacturers. If we're gonna do it anyways, I feel like at least we should save on the bureaucratic overhead of paying it out to thousands of individuals after means testing their car purchase
