MODERATORS

They Literally just steal videos from Chinese tiktok and put text(often in mandarin) over it and post it to make it look authentic.

Also 550 is their favourite number because they refer to it a lot when making Social Credit videos.

Isn't this account the origin of the jbp dick milking factory?

[–] Great_Leader_Is_Dead@hexbear.net 45 points 2 years ago (2 children)

This is the account that spread the fake "cock milking" thing, they also just find videos of gross meat processing plants plants with Asian workers as some evidence that Chinese people are all animal abusing psychos, but half the time the videos aren't even from China and even if they are it ain't like slaughter houses in the west are all clean pretty operations.

[–] RyanGosling@hexbear.net 18 points 2 years ago

I’m pretty sure there was one viral video from the account that originated from Taiwan lol

Luckily for me Xi added 500,000 credit score after I refuse to say China bad, so I get to buy all the food I want

Can someone explain to me how social credit is any different than my credit score?

My credit score decides what purchases I can make or what loans I receive. It is also is determined by my standards of living and the property I have. It sounds like it is the same thing, and I can’t understand how Americans are this dumb.

The difference is that social credit is localized to specific provinces or cities that opt into the program. And it’s mostly only utilized for businesses (to ensure they’re compliant with the law by actually providing the services advertised to consumers). The owners/executives are the ones whose lives are nominally affected by the score. That’s not to say that can’t expand the system to other areas that weren’t intended for it (see SSN in the US), but so far it’s not some 1984 shit. I’ve met some international Chinese liberals while in college, and sometimes American students would ask them about credit scores and they would have no idea what the hell you’re talking about lol

The cartoonish social credit dystopia fabrication has gotten so outlandish that western, liberal media outlets have had to write articles debunking the claims because the things they said had no basis in reality like any good lie

[–] Dr_Gabriel_Aby@hexbear.net 27 points 2 years ago (1 children)

So it’s less dystopian than the American social credit system…. Of course

[–] ashinadash@hexbear.net 13 points 2 years ago

Every accusation an admission

[–] FloridaBoi@hexbear.net 19 points 2 years ago

What I hate is that some lefty podcasts still either espouse this social credit nonsense explicitly or some of their guests will do so without an ounce of pushback from the hosts. I think the most recent instance I heard was an episode from This Machine Kills which oozes radlib and sucdem vibes anyway

Oh so because your credit score is bad you cant buy groceries? I think from that fact alone, you should be able to deduce what the difference is. I cant believe kids are this dumb.

[–] Dr_Gabriel_Aby@hexbear.net 2 points 2 years ago (1 children)

you are making up a thing…..

[–] BobGnarley@lemm.ee 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

My bad, use SELF SERVICE to buy groceries, or charge your electronic car if you have one, or use Uber or most online services. In US they just wont let you get a cash loan or a credit card. That is absolutely different.

[–] Dr_Gabriel_Aby@hexbear.net 2 points 2 years ago (1 children)

In the US, a bad credit report can decide; if you can receive a loan, or if you can get a house, or a rental unit, or a car, or the cost of insurance, or even employment opportunities, or if you can even use a credit card (the number one way to make larger or purchase items with recurring payments.) Your bad credit can even be decided by student loans your parents took out for your education BEFORE you were an adult.

I would say having bad credit can hinder your life in America. Regardless of what we perceive Chinas system to be.

[–] BobGnarley@lemm.ee 1 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

Lol you said "can anyone explain to me how social credit is different than my credit score?" Did you not? Id say, not being able to use self service groceries, charging an electric vehicle not being able to use Uber etc at ALL is very different, wouldnt you say so ? In America you can get a debit card and do all those things even with no credit. Glad I could answer your original question. Also, taking out student loans on your underage kids is illegal as fuck in the usa but youre right someone could break that law and screw your credit up. Can still use self service groceries, charge your car, fly in a plane etc. Are you still unaware how they are different or would you like more examples to ignore?

[–] SkingradGuard@hexbear.net 24 points 2 years ago (2 children)

An annoying thing about the constant anti-China propaganda is this almost religious belief that "social credit" is a real thing that exists, and no amount of evidence saying otherwise is enough for them to stop believing in it.

[–] Frogmanfromlake@hexbear.net 12 points 2 years ago

Actually forgot that was a thing people on the internet talked about. Nobody in Taiwan says that shit and the Mainland Chinese living here don't mention it either. Westerners are the most gullible people and proof of that are the number of Evangelical mega churches they throw many at for miracles.

[–] TheDialectic@hexbear.net 8 points 2 years ago

It is projection. Our credit scores are way more limiting than theirs. Also rascist and sexist.

[–] Dirt_Owl@hexbear.net 22 points 2 years ago

Imprisoned is a funny way of spelling "stopped people dying a painful covid death"

[–] SoyViking@hexbear.net 13 points 2 years ago (1 children)

How much of a thing is this alleged "social credit score"? Does it even exist?

[–] RyanGosling@hexbear.net 19 points 2 years ago (1 children)

It does. But unless you’re a business owner in a city that has opted in, you’re likely going to just be affected by china’s version of FICO just like every other country. https://hexbear.net/comment/4420192

[–] TraumaDumpling@hexbear.net 12 points 2 years ago

even if the social credit thing is true, so the fuck what? what is so authoritarian and evil about having to use a human cashier instead of a machine? in the USA you need some minimum credit score to buy a house, wayy more important than 'self service grocery stores' lmfao even if i accept their flawed premise their argument makes no sense

[–] Nationalgoatism@hexbear.net 10 points 2 years ago

My source is that I made it the fuck up

550 so Americans will associate it with something relatable, like a credit score.

[–] HexBroke@hexbear.net 3 points 2 years ago

Your score falls within the range of scores, from 300 to 579, considered Very Poor. A 550 FICO® Score is significantly below the average credit score.

Many lenders choose not to do business with borrowers whose scores fall in the Very Poor range, on grounds they have unfavorable credit. Credit card applicants with scores in this range may be required to pay extra fees or to put down deposits on their cards. Utility companies may also require them to place security deposits on equipment or service contracts.

[–] micnd90@hexbear.net 1 points 2 years ago

USA imprisoned 2 million people in a mostly for-profit prison system. Now a minimum credit score of 600 is necessary to afford a loan for either a car or small house.
